Fatma and Mahdi met for the first time in the elevator. At least that's how Mahdi likes to tell it whenever someone asks. After years of being shy and not speaking much except for talking about the weather, they ended up together at a restaurant in Vienna called Alma (named after a wife and muse of Klimt) as a friend who was supposed to meet both there “forgot” to come. This was the first time they actually really talked with each other.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and Fatma was locked out of her apartment in the evening and did not know what to do. She scrolled through Instagram and saw Mahdi was close by and they had a chance to hang out again. This was the moment they quite literally found “love in a hopeless place” as told by the Barbadorian artist R.R. Fenty.

That was the beginning of their love story. The couple continued to bond over their shared love for good food. They tried out new restaurants together, visited museums, went to lectures, watched movies and danced the nights away. Fatma even brought out Mahdi’s adventerous side and convinced him to go scuba diving in the open sea.

They spoke about their life aspirations, and about traveling the world, and it soon became clear to both, that they wanted to build a beautiful life and future together.
